I don't like the colors.
orz. I used SAI.exe for this. LINEART : 1HR 30M COLOR : 2HR 15M TOTAL : 3HR 45M the thing shes sitting on is like a rag or a pillow but not her dress, though I did not color it different because everything isn't perfect.. Inspired by [link] and everyday good ol' angst. Also, looks MUCH better when Downloaded, please download for the better look, AND I WAS GOING FOR THE ROUGH LOOK AGAIN, so back off about things not colored perfectly =o.. Comments
Ahhh wow this looks really good owo
Glad to see a new drawing from ya ^^ And I'd critique it, but if you're going to color it, I'd rather save it for that -- Everyone at some point in their lives come to understand that perfect happiness is unattainable... impossible. What most people don't see though is the antithesis; that perfect unhappiness is equally unattainable.. equally impossible. Nice job!
I wouldn't worry about the colors--they work pretty well, IMO. Though, maybe try using a color that is more markedly different then the base color for the shadows? I always find that that makes it look much better. A very deep blue or purple works for most places, and green is good for forests/etc Other than that, maybe pay a little more attention to proportions? There are a couple of things that are just a little bit off, mainly the size of her head and the width of her shoulders... Also, have you tried using a hard-edged brush for shading, rather than a fuzzy one? Despite common sense, it actually makes blending easier (just switch to the eyedropper, grab the color in the middle, and keep painting), and it makes the results much prettier To echo *BlackMorass, those hands are awesome! The only thing that seems off is that there appears to be a disconnect between her right hand and her right arm... Anyway, great job! This is really good! -- "I will give up my belief in evolution if someone finds a fossil rabbit in the Precambrian." |

Her hands are wonderful, and I'd say the heart of the drawing. The way she is holding the comb is very nice. (Although, I feel her arms might be a little short - I would check your proportions.)
The thing that I feel is most important to fix is her face. Her facial features are nice, but their placement is off. She has a 3/4 face, but her features are facing us.
I also think there should be more of a shadow established. Using the entire right half of the picture as negative space is nice, and I like how you did it, but I feel that the presence of a more pronounced shadow would help strengthen the piece.
It's a good composition, I'd say. Not quite your best work, but it's by no means bad at all. I look forward to seeing more work from you! ^^
